REPORT ON FINISHED TRAINING FOR FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENT BASED ON THE INTERNATIONAL
CLASSIFICATION OF FUNCTIONING, DISABILITY AND HEALTH - ICF

 

 

In the period from 08.05.2021 to 15.10.2021, the project "Implementation of the new model of functional assessment for additional educational, health and social support of children and youth, based on the International Classification of Functioning - ICF was implemented by the Association of Special Educators and rehabilitators of RNM – ASER.

The main goal of the project was to train professionals who will perform functional assessment of children and youth in accordance with the new assessment model for additional educational, health and social support of a children and youth, based on the ICF.

The training was conducted in three new regions, in which three new Regional Expert bodies for functional assessment were opened - Southeast, Pelagonija and Polog region of RNM.

The whole process was implemented in cooperation with the National Body for Functional Assessment, which operates within the Functional Assessment Service at the PHI Health Center Skopje and is in constant coordination with the Ministries of Labor and Social Policy, Education and Health in achieving project results, as well as an intensive cooperation with the Centers for Social Work from the selected regions.

The project was funded by the UNICEF Office in Skopje.

In the period from 11.05.-18.05.2021 the theoretical part of the online training for the new model of functional assessment based on ICF for a total of 16 experts from the Southeast region of RNM was held. The training was attended by profiles who are part of the permanent members of the expert team for conducting functional assessment, i.e special educator and rehabilitator, psychologist, social worker and doctor. While, the practical part took place on 26.05.2021 and 27.05.2021. As part of the project activities was the organization of online workshops in order to raise awareness of the importance of inclusive education and the positive impact on the community. A series of three online workshops was held. One of them was intended for teachers and inclusive teams from primary schools in the Southeast region, the second workshop was held with the staff of the Centers for Social Work in the Southeast region, while the third was intended for parents of children with disabilities from the Southeast region. The workshops were attended by a total of 64 participants. After the completion of the basic training, mentoring training was conducted for 30 days on 4 selected professionals, after which the third Regional Expert Body in RNM responsible for the Southeast region based in Strumica was officially opened.

In the period from 14.06.-17.06.2021 the theoretical part of the online training for the new model of functional assessment based on ICF for a total of 16 experts from the Pelagonija region of RNM was held. The training was attended by profiles who are part of the permanent members of the expert team for conducting functional assessment, i.e special educator and rehabilitator, psychologist, social worker and doctor. While, the practical part took place on 22.06.2021 and 23.06.2021. Within the project, a cycle of three workshops was conducted in order to bring the concept of functional assessment under the ICF closer to the public. The workshops were intended for teachers and inclusive teams from primary schools, a workshop for employees of the Centers for Social Work and a workshop for parents of children with disabilities from the Pelagonija region. The workshop was attended by 81 participants. After the completion of the basic training and mentoring training of 4 selected experts, the fourth Regional Expert Body in RNM responsible for the Pelagonija region, based in Bitola, was officially opened.

In the period from 19.07.21-23.07.2021, the theoretical part of the online training for the new model of functional assessment was held. The training was attended by 16 experts from the Polog region, profiles that are part of the members of the expert team for functional assessment. The theoretical part took place on 20.09.2021 and 21.09.2021. During the training for the Polog region, workshops were conducted in order to introduce and promote the ICF for teachers and inclusive teams from primary schools in the Polog region, a workshop with the Centers for Social Work and workshops for the perents of the children with disabilities from the Polog region. After the completion of the trainings and the mentoring of 4 selected experts, we have opened the fifth Regional expert body responsible for the Polog region of RNM based in Gostivar.

Trainings and workshops are conducted by mentor trainers with years of experience in applying functional assessment.
